Concert to celebrate the International Day of People with Disability
The International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations sanctioned day that is celebrated internationally. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions.
CCS Disability Action are celebrating this day by holding a concert (“Celebrate Us’) on Saturday 1st December on the Waterfront on the Strand from 12pm-3pm. The concert will start directly after the Tauranga Christmas Parade so hopefully a lot of people from the Christmas parade will attend the concert.
We already have a range of performances lined up including dance groups, Kapa haka, instrumentalists and singers. We may have room for more performers so if you are, or know of talented people who would like to perform on the day please email video footage of you/them performing to firstname.lastname@example.org and include contact details.
We cannot guarantee that we will have the capacity to accommodate everyone but welcome all expressions of interest. Unfortunately there is a short timeframe involved so do need expressions of interest by end of the day on the 11th October.
The concert will be a family friendly event and we will be encouraging everyone to come along with a picnic blanket or fold up chairs (there will be limited seating provided including bean bags) and bring a picnic lunch or buy food from our sausage sizzle or the other food vendors and spend the three hours being entertained by the very talented performers.
We will send out more information about the day over the coming month once details have been finalised.
