AIMS Games, Sunday 8 – Friday 13 September, Tauranga
Halberg Games, Friday 11- Sunday 13 October, King's College in Auckland

This year we’ve got 11 Youth competing in the Halberg Games in Auckland, with 4 first time competitors.

Our athletes have been training hard! Each receiving a personalised training programme for the sports they’ll be competing in. These have been developed by John Sligo, one of our Parafed Board members, who’s currently completing his final semester of his Bachelor of Sport and Recreation with AUT.

The team’s first meeting was this week at Physical Impact gym where they trialled CrossFit  and were assessed for training programmes to prepare for the Halberg Games.

Some of the sports that our team will be competing in are; Athletics, Archery, Boccia, Football, Golf, Orienteering,  Pop Tennis, Swimming, Touch and of course some wheelchair sports.

Over in to the pool in Rotorua, Siobhan our Parafed Ambassador is coaching Liam, a member of our Aspiring Youth. Liam will be competing in swimming at the AIMS Games in September and is our only Bay of Plenty member competing in the games this year. We’re cheering you on Liam

Cherryl has been running around with the AIMS Committee to develop their cross-country course, this is something she’s helped with from its inception! Go Cherryl!

Good luck to all our athletes who are competing in the coming months!
